Qxf6 would be mate were the Black queen not guarding the bishop, so 1. Re8+ clinches it - I think - I mean I'm still reeling from the Benko.

This is straight off the Chessgames.com main page. The answer is: 1. Re8+ deflecting the queen from f6 or blocking it with the bishop if it captures.

isn't Re8+ abundantly obvious? If Bxe8 then Qg8 mate. If Qxe8 then Qxf6 mate
