CLAUDIA FINISHES HER PARTICIPATION IN THE TEXAS SCHOLASTIC STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 6 POINTS OF SEVEN POSSIBLE

At 4: 20 p.m. Claudia finished her participation in the ¨TEXAS SCHOLASTIC STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2010¨. We currently do not have a final result to provide since there are several boards in play. What we can report is that today, in her second day of participation, Claudia had a stellar performance as she won the 5th, 6th and final round. Yesterday, she won all of her rounds only losing in the 4th round to the 3rd seed of the tournament.

Claudia finished with 6.0/7 points and still the only girl in the top boards in Texas. As soon as we know more information, we will inform our readers.

I read an article about her just two days ago that she moved from Mexico to Dallas area to take part in more tournaments and it appears she is going to have a great future here in Texas!

My daughter played her in the SPNI Girls Invitational. I've had the chance to meet her and she seems like a nice young lady with a great chess future ahead of her!

Speaking of the SPNI Girls Invitational, I've heard rumors that it will be canceled. Is this true?

The rumor I heard is the bozos at the USCF canceled the SPNI without even telling Susan Polgar or any of the state scholastic representatives. If true then they're just a bunch of pin head.

Also, my daughter is planning to attend the Las Vegas Polgar Girls Tournament. Will that also be canceled?

My daughter will also be going to the Vegas tournament. It's on. The USCF can't touch that one.

Thanks Chess Dad So Cal. Do you know if Texas Tech is still sponsoring Susan's programs in presenting opportunities to female chess players?

Yes, it is called SPICE. The world's only elite college chess program run by a women's world champion!

Todd, I don't know. But it doesn't seem that there's any slow down since the SPICE Spring Invitational and SPICE Cup are still on. I assume that the only one canceled is the SPNI due to the USCF.
