Been a while but I remember this puzzle. A dead dog should be able to find 1.Kc7:

1. Kc7 d6
2. Kc8! de5

and white will march d-pawn to d8 while returning the king to c7.

I am guessing this is the ending to a more technically challenging chess problem?
