Chess in the curriculum in Paraguay


I am pleased to announce that today March 13, 2014 the inclusion of Chess finally approved in Parliament, both Chambers in the curriculum of the School of Basic and Secondary Education across the country.

25/10/2012: THE HONORABLE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NATION DECLARES INTEREST OF EDUCATION AND SPORTS CHESS (proposed by Rep. Juan Antonio Denis member of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay)

19/03/2013: THE HONORABLE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NATION APPROVES BILL "TO MAKE THE CHESS IN SCHOOL CURRICULUM OF BASIC EDUCATION AND MEDIA IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF PARAGUAY" (proposed by Rep. Juan Antonio Denis member Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay)

27/06/2013: THE HONORABLE SENATE APPROVES THE NATION THE BILL "TO MAKE THE CHESS IN SCHOOL CURRICULUM OF BASIC EDUCATION AND MEDIA IN THE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF PARAGUAY" WITH AMENDMENTS.

09/10/2013: THE HONORABLE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NATION REJECTS THE AMENDED BY SENATE (proposed by Rep. Juan Bartolome Ramirez Brizuela Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay)

03/13/2014: THE HONORABLE SENATE APPROVES THE NATION THE BILL "TO MAKE THE CHESS IN THE CURRICULUM OF SCHOOL EDUCATION AND MEDIA IN BASIC EDUCATION SYSTEM OF PARAGUAY" THE ORIGINAL TEXT OF THE HONORABLE DEPUTIES CHAMBER

I still don't support the US supported coup though. Chess is nice, but it's not in very good company in the Paraguayan education system...

If this were to happen in Honduras which is also struck by a US/Obama/Clinton supported coup, one might begin to wonder what's going on, what these rotten regimes use chess for...

In other words: it would be nicer if it happened in Uruguay for example.
